Want to make your home more festive for the holiday season? If so, you are in luck! There are many things you can to make your home stand out and be a neighborhood gem this year, most of which are very affordable. Christmas lights have long been a traditional holiday staple, but that does not mean you have to stick with the same ol’ same ol’.

Ready for a change?

Thanks to sites like Pinterest, there is an endless supply of ideas available; people love sharing their decorations and can even show you step-by-step how to make your home look the same. This is without a doubt one of the best ways to get in the holiday spirit. You do not have to be super crafty to make these decorating ideas a success; neither should you feel compelled to duplicate them. The greatest decorations are inspired by uniqueness. Let your creativity flow and spend some quality time with family making the most of the holidays this year!

4 Holiday Decorating Ideas to Make Your Home Festive

  • A wall full of wreaths
  • Who said a wreath should only be hung up on the front door? The first thing to do is find a wall in your home that you don’t mind designating solely (or at least using a majority of its space) for hanging multiple wreaths. This is completely up to you, but places where guests will be such as the family and dining room usually work best. Clear the wall of any picture frames or hanging furniture and install different sizes and shapes in their place. Feel free to make your custom design arrangement. Angular patterns looks great as do slanted ones.

  • Hanging holiday garland
  • The best part about garland is that it can be hung anywhere. It is lightweight and easy to manipulate, which is one reason why most homeowners wrap it around staircase spindles and porch poles. Another unique idea is to suspend it in an entryway. Cut a piece of garland to run the length of the frame, then decorate it with holiday greeting cards.

  • Decorate the fireplace mantle
  • Nothing is more inviting than a warm hearth that is adorned in beautiful ornaments. This too is an excellent place for setting holiday cards, but can also be used to hang stockings and set ornamental fruit (the bright orange color of pomegrantes make this fake fruit a must have item in any home).

  • Dress up candles
  • Lighting candles can really enhance the holiday atmosphere in your home, and are even more stunning when outfitted with mini-sweaters. That’s right; cut a piece of fabric with your color of choice to the size of the candle’s diameter, and sew the bottom together to make a fitting exterior. Just remember to put them around the container and not the candle itself, at least if you intend to light it.
